Not to discount the vast experience of this author, which I definitely acknowledge, but this book is 75% motivational "you can do it!" fluffiness and 25% great ideas. If you need the motivational pump-up, then this book is for you. If you don't (because you already KNOW you can do it or have already started doing it), you'll have to wade through a bunch of that to get to the really helpful meat of the matter. Still, if you can walk away with even one or two good ideas, the read was worth it. I just think it could have been 300 pages shorter.

Fortunately I only spent $1.99 on this Kindle book. I managed to get about 3/4 of the way thru before I just gave up. Like some other reviewers point out the first 40% of the book is all about "believe you can do it"!!! Which is great except I'm past that stage, I'm to the point where I want to understand the ins & outs and logistics of HOW to get investment properties.The book is full of super annoying oversimplifications like "do good deals"....and "buy a property that will appreciate over time"....umm duh! And there are direct quotes of similar nature from supposed millionaire investors like "partner with someone who knows what he's doing"....OMG, I can't believe this book got so many good reviews. And then there are the numerous contradictions like "buy a property in a great neighborhood where everyone wants to live", followed by advice to negotiate the least amount on price for that neighborhood where everyone wants to be. In many parts of the country its a seller's market for the great neighborhoods and you will easily blow your budget in a bidding war for location. Additional contradictions that drove me nuts were "decrease rental turnover by pricing monthly rent fairly" but then followed by the advice in later chapters to "maximize your rental income by charging extra fees for pets, storage, parking, utilities....."At the age of 39 I've built and re-built a solid budget over time but I suppose that chapter might be good for many readers. Additionally, towards the end there is a chapter on taxes which I found helpful. Honestly, I've learned way more about the process of RE investing from some (free) blogs on the web.

I read through the first 125 pages waiting for some actual real estate knowledge to show up. It's all just fluff and telling you that "you can do it" and "have the millionaire mindset". I wouldn't be looking at real estate books if I didn't already think that way. I felt like I was at a real estate workshop with "gurus" trying to sell you on all their products. There are multiple quotes from other "millionaire investors" with pieces of amazing advice such as "If I'm not going to make money, I won't buy it".There is very little in terms of actual knowledge in this book. Do not waste your time.

Has many good ideas...Just could have put all ideas on 1 sheet of paper. Lots of word fill. Maybe some people appreciate stories of success. Personally, I just wanted facts.

Many people are saying this is more motivational than how to. Of course it is. I think it's by design. How to succeed (and the definition of success itself) varies person to person, area to area.I have bought this book for many friends and my recommendation is to find 1-2 things they can take away. Mine are the goals (think, buy, own, earn a million) and the personal balance sheet. This to me is GOLD. I update my balance sheet monthly which both allows me time to reflect on the good and also motivates me when I have a 'flat/inactive' month.I read this book every summer and always pick up something new.

Like most real estate books, it's pretty generic stuff. There's nothing wrong or weird in it, it's just superficial like most other books in this category. It seems like people want to get you hungry to be rich more than they want to give you concrete skills for analyzing good and bad deals and giving specifics. Honestly, I've learned about 100x more from a few property investors in my area over dinner than I've learned from just about any book. It's good for beginners but if you own even one property, you won't learn much.

Excellent book. I own a couple properties and not all the info was new to me and I think you can find much if the info online, but not in a well written and well compiled way like this. I was validated in my thinking and strategy. The positive ‘you can do it’ and mental aspects of the game are very important and helped me. I found the success stories particularly helpful as they show you what is possible and that normal people can do this. I don’t think there was much hype. I would highly recommend it. Written by an experienced real estate guy. I’m giving it to my kids so they can start thinking in this direction early in their lives and ger set until in real estate. I wish I would have heard or read this info 20 years ago. Not sure that reading a single book will replace the need for a mentor unless you’re a complete self-starter, but this ibfonand some basics from my financial advisor got me started.

This was the first book that I have ever read on real estate investing, and oh my what an introduction it was. The book is part motivational and part instructional, which I think it's one of the best combinations for any book out there. After you finish this book, you will most likely want to start investing in real estate, even if it's in small amounts and small increments of time.

About the Author

Born in Welland and raised in Parry Sound Ontario Canada. Spend most of my time with my husband of 28 years at our 6 rescue dogs at our villa in Cabarete, Dominican Republic. I have 3 younger brothers, 3 sons and 5 grand children all living in the south western Ontario region. When I'm not writing or working on the website, I stay busy volunteering with a group called "Dogs and Cats of the Dominican Republic" I especially enjoy doing community outreach into the poorer areas where we can really make a difference for the people and their pets. We get back to Canada once a year to visit and catch up with family and friends. This handbook is fine for beginners. It lists 41 palms, providing info on the palm itself, its appearance, different strains, and growth and care. If you want a few common palms in your garden, this book will provide most of the information you would ever need. Unfortunately it is written at a child's level, with an occasional incomplete thought, simple sentences, and sometimes a lack of continuity. For example, one paragraph reads: " There are some reddish teeth like spines located on them leaf stem close to the trunk." [p.167]. It is easy to understand what the author meant, but the book would be easier to read if edited properly.

I was a little disappointed with this one after reading the title. I had hoped to get more meat onproper pruning techniques since I have many of these on my property.

If you have palms and are looking for information this is the book to get.

I ordered this book as a dream book, for fun and pretty pictures, but I was surprised to find practical information as well (how to change tires; why you don't need to take a chemical toilet camping; how to power those outdoor clawfoot bathtubs you see on TV commercials that shall be nameless here, since anybody who has to take dangerous prescriptions to do THAT would be better off hunting erotic alternatives). In fact,I've bought several (admittedly) short, cheap, and "practical" books on RVing, and while they have their virtues, Mary Jane combines useful hints with a broad range of subjects, like buying and restoring your trailer, recipes I want to try at home, how to host a glamping soiree, and why you shouldn't usually take children and dogs glamping (she needs to write at least one book on kid- and dog-friendly expeditions, too, since she approves of them as separate activities). And she covers actually hitching up the trailer in better detail than any book I've seen so far. And, like her magazine, it does have lovely pictures. Note: This book isn't just about trailer/campers; she covers porch camping, expedition tents (a species I'd forgotten existed) and "learncations" (study something you've always wanted to in a gorgeous setting). In short, this book is a great gift for yourself, your homegirls, and your adventurous mama and grandma (Mother's Day is coming up)!

I gave this to my mom who is part of "sisters on the fly" and she LOOOOOVES it! It is full of great information and fun stories, it even has projects to enhance your glamping experience. She mentions how much she likes it often, weeks after she received it, so I know it was a hit.

I am very pleased with this book! I have camped across the USA and have had good and bad experiences. This book will give women of all ages confidence to set out on the glamping trail and see the sights.

This is a delightful read! I have been camping for years and just realized what I've been missing. I definitely need to Glamp it up! No need to leave glamour behind just because you are roughing it.

I have other MaryJane Butters books and I can appreciate what she stands for. I am definitely NOT as earthy as she is, but, I still enjoyed this particular book. I haven't read it front to back, but, there is a lot of eye candy and some very helpful advice included. If you follow her advice, I can't help but think you wouldn't have a very pleasant "Glamping" experience. . .if that's your thing!

I almost want to call this a coffee table book. The photos are really fun to look at. Whether you're actually into fixing up old trailers or just dream of an occasional escape, this book is informative, well written and beautiful.

If you are at all interested in this lifestyle, you'll LOVE this book. Spent several hours going through it. Learned a lot and had a lot of fun. MJ has a lot of style, especially in her writing.

It was fun little fluff piece to read. I was hoping there would be more practible advise out there on fixing these old campers but it's more of a story and a few decorating tips. What people need is someone to put out how to, real life, pictured, howinthehell do I fix this advice. Resources are very limited out there for the old camp trailer niche.

He is a member of Sigma XI, a senior member of SME, and coauthor of Learning Mastercam X2 Mill Step-by-Step, also published by Industrial Press.Joseph Goldenberg is Associate Professor, Department of Engineering Technology, and Director of Manufacturing Processes Laboratory at Queensborough Community College, New York. Professor Goldenberg holds an Engineer Degree in Machine Tool Technology, Lvov Polytechnic institute, USSR; and an MS in Manufacturing Engineering, Brooklyn Polytechnic University. He has PhD equivalency, granted by CUNY Board of Trusties; and holds the EIT in New York State. With over 45 years of experience as a mechanical engineer and machine tool designer, Goldenberg is an expert in CNC, CAD/CAM programming, and manufacturing management. He is the founder and President of the Center for Advanced Manufacturing Studies, a company dedicated to training and advising manufacturing personnel in the latest developments of CNC and CADCAM technology.

Valentino and Goldenberg are also authors of a one of the best "intro to CNC" books published in recent years. If you are new to industrial CNC or are taking a skilled trades course involving Mastercam then this instructional book will provide excellent value and in my opinion contains considerably more detail that is not found in the competing CamInstructor series of training guides that typically used in conjunction with the Haas CNC mills and lathes found at most technical colleges in North America skilled trades programs. It would be very interesting to hear from others how they compare this book and the comprehensive series by Matthew Manton and Duane Weidinger that is also highly recommended if you want to learn Mastercam 2D, 3D 4&5D axis CNC mill software. If you use Mastercam X7 2D Mill at your place of employment then this step by step training guide may still be very useful to you. I have heard more than one exprienced user of Mastercam state that the software is so powerful they still are learning how to use its evolving functionality and new high speed toolpaths. If you are already an expert with older versions of Mastercam then this book will help serve as a reference to the new version released in 2013 assuming your employer hasn't sent you to an accelerated training course. One important caveat: The incorporation of the Mastercam Demo X7 HLE software on DVD and lessons are worth the purchase of the book alone. The included software will allow you to practice creating 2D mill geometry and assigning toolpaths, but will NOT allow you to output the result as G code that would make the part. To do that you will need to pay the folks at Mastercam for a seat and a valid SIM which with all the bells and whistles could easily run $25K upfront. For those home CNC hobbyists who are just getting started please understand that Mastercam software is used by many shops and companies who do not want to invest in the steep learning curve or typical expense of ~$40K seat cost and ~$4K yearly "maintenance" fees that the gold standard CNC CAM packages typically cost. Those programs are typically used in Fortune 500 companies manufacturing engineering groups such as those making custom products heading into the demanding aerospace market. If you are a small business owner looking to understand the power of Mastercam software then invest in this book and home learning environment software and decide if it will benefit. Final warning if you do invest in Mastercam be prepared to also buy very high end engineering workstations with lots of memory to run it.

It's an alright book. I took this class with the person who wrote it. Pro. Goldenberg. At Queensborough Community College. He doesn't explain what to do, he expects us to know it this book provides examples of how to do things, but its not so clear on all steps, so you would have to figure it out on your own. Its a helpful book but the steps aren't 100% helpfull. I gave it 3 stars because.. well, find out for yourself, buy this book and you'll end up giving it 3 stars also.

Received an expired demo version. Have no idea the quality of the book and it's contents.

The first book I got had a blank DVD in the back so I sent it back. The second book also had a blank DVD in the back. I already had a copy of mastercam x7 demo so I just kept the book. I emailed the publisher about getting a replacement DVD but got no response from them.

Haven't read the book, but bought it for the software. No need to work in the computer lab at College. I can use the MasterCam website and this program from my home computer. Saves me lots of time.
