I don't like this version. My teenage daughter doesn't like this version. My husband won't read it because the print is too small, but he probably wouldn't mind it too much. Maybe our take on it isn't all that typical because we really don't like paraphrases as a rule, but reading this version seriously irritates me. If you don't readily remember what the Bible really says in this or that passage, it might not affect you that way.It's not that the Message is heretical or anything. It's just way too coloquial and often too shallow for me. It'll be out-of-date within ten years if not sooner. As I said, it's not horrible, but if you want the depth of God's word, which is so incredible and rich and has so many nuances and shades of meaning, and is truly and literally alive, this is *absolutely* not the version for you. If you want an easy read (and sometimes we do), and if you're not too picky about getting the whole meaning, then you might enjoy it.God Bless,Cindy

If your a brand new Bible reader the Message Bible is an excellent choice. You might find the rest of this review a bit much, but will find substantiation for that previous statement if you care to continue.Being a Christian for 34 years and a student of biblical/political history, Greek and Hebrew I'd previously shunned all the "NFG's" (the new-fangled-versions) as I call them, because of reasons that would be a thesis here on it's own. Enter the Message Bible just before Christmas 2017. "Oh," I said to myself, "I'll just read some for the heck of it (since some people in my prayer group, life group, etc read from it way back when) and try to keep my mind from being too judgmental until after one book of the bible," . I read Romans in one sitting: " Well, that was kind-of interesting. Sure sounded different" I said. I purposely did NOT put any of my other bibles next to it and compare them verse by verse in order to give it a fair shake -- to better get a "flavor" rather than conduct a critical review. One of my friends did just that and blasted it for verse after verse translation "deficiencies" as he thought of them.I had a different aim -- and I think it might have been Dr. Peterson's aim from reading (later) the introduction. I then read Hebrews the next day. Hebrews usually takes me at least 5 days to read without skimming because of the language and depth of subject. It only took me one this time. On to Luke, Acts, Galatians, Ephesians, the little Johns and Revelation. I thought, "This is interesting. I'm getting a snapshot view of whole books more easily framed in timeline organizational mind-pictures and I'm walking away with the same overall understanding I already have from my years of study of my "regular versions." So, I just thought I'd start at the beginning - Genesis and read the whole thing through. I'm in Psalms now in mid March and it usually takes me a year for a read-through with individual study in other areas for classes, meetings. etc.While Greek is a language with many differences from English requiring not only a translator with an excellent grasp of the language itself, but also the codex from which he is translating, AND a thorough grounding and communication in/with the Holy Spirit before one can figure out which English word(s) to use for the Greek one(s) and the Greek sentence construction to actually be forming the right thoughts God wants communicated to his children/bride/warriors/ambassadors.That's all hard enough. When the [109-156 depending on sources] writers of the King James undertook the task of the King James bible they prefaced the undertaking with a 40 day fast to make sure their flesh was in subjection, during which several [13-36, again depending on sources] prospective translators dropped out . And we're only talking about the Greek so far as to the translation difficulty. Quadruple that difficulty for Hebrew.The writers doctrinal beliefs WILL shade his/her translations. There's no way around it now. It is just a psychological fact. That's why you must know what any author believes before you know how to read between their lines -- Interlinears, concordances, whole codex translation into Greek or Hebrew texts, textbooks, books, even "fact-novels," commentaries, etc. There was no way around it in political history: even when monk scribes copied under the auspices of their political masters - hence differences in codexes, in phraseology to purport one view or another, missing passages (with spaces deliberately left showing where they were forced to leave it out, etc.) "Good translation" is not just hard because of the original nature of the Greek and Hebrew languages AND because of the nature of the Old Testament writers, but because of what we've been accustomed to read as translations of that NT & OT which attempted to make it majestic because evidently the translators might have thought it would be irreverent to translate more literally since the original language was so often just, sort of ... well, common, inelequent. As if God deserved to be talked about with more befitting reverent-sounding language.Eugene Peterson thought nothing of the kind. He evidently sought to attempt to convey the writers' message (as inspired by the Holy Spirit) in just the sort of uneducated manner in which they spoke it in the first place.I find Peterson's choice of words forming gut feelings that are very much in agreement with the thoughts I form when studying through entire passage groups in preparation for a message to prisoners, or a life group, a men's meeting or writing bible studies. I struggle with sentence structure in my notes - then decide to skip the detail and just jot down short scripture notes and let the Holy Spirit take the lead in giving the lesson to the group. When a recording is available and I listen to it later I find the examples of scripture in action I brought out to "bring it home" to the listeners tended to take the form of many of the phrases that Peterson seems to use. Not word-for-word, but like minded.So, what you have here is a former skeptic of such things as The Message Bible because I saw them as unfaithful to the transliterated Greek or Hebrew word-for word when, in fact the Message Bible is effective at doing what I, myself, under the Holy Spirit's guiding hand was bringing out in my own teaching. That's humbling -- and instructional.If you are a well-seasoned Christian challenge yourself to try the Message Bible on for size without a chip on your shoulder, all the preconceptions and without your other bibles side by side for passage critique until you've read each book through - and maybe not even then. Continue to use your favorite version for your regular word studies, passage studies etc. You still need it. But I think you'll really benefit in using the MB in a way only you will be able to see in hindsight.

This is my 5th time of reading through the Bible. NIV twice, King James, NASB, and now The Message. Each time I learn more. This version clarified some areas in a way that I really understood what God was trying to say. There were many times I referred back to the NASB for accurate wording and to confirm The Message's interpretation. There were a couple of times I didn't agree with the interpretation. In general, I appreciated the work that went into making this Bible extremely reader friendly while still holding to the truth of His word.

This is the third try and finally got it right. I ordered two different other Message Bibles, the first one the print was so tiny I couldn't read then the next one, the paper was so thin you could read the next page through. I love this one! Print is a larger font, not what I consider as large print like stated but very comfortable. Love how flexible the cover is. Easy to hold and read. Love, Love it!

[Update, September 2017: Just a caution here that there now seem to be two Kindle editions of the book available. The original "eTextbook / Print Replica Kindle Edition" which is like a PDF file of the actual printed book, and a new "Kindle Edition" which is *not* in Print Replica format. This latter new edition has a different ASIN and shows over 3,000 pages (page-turns on a Kindle device, not actual pages). Beware though, as it is not going to have the beautiful layout and typesetting of the original version. It IS readable on any Kindle device (not just those capable of displaying the Print Replica titles), and should allow increasing the font size to make the text more readable for those who find the full page images of the original book too small or difficult to manage. Personally I prefer the original eTextbook edition which is an exact reproduction of the printed book. In any case, be sure you're ordering the correct version (they currently seem to share the same price) and don't be bothered by the fact that the new Kindle version shows more "pages" and has a larger file size than the original eTextbook one.]This review is based (mostly, see update at the end) on the Kindle edition of the book, which is a "Print Replica" edition which exactly matches the printed textbook (it's essentially like a PDF of the entire book). For textbooks, even the most valuable (like this one) that I love and plan to keep for a long time, I now much prefer electronic versions for many reasons, not the least of which is that it's easier to hold up and read a tablet than a seven pound tome. You can also zoom in on text and figures as needed, and the illustrations are almost all in "vector" form meaning they stay sharp and detailed as you zoom in. You can also search the complete text of the book, do electronic underlining, set bookmarks, etc.Yes, the Kindle textbooks have DRM that restricts what you can do with it, but I find the Kindle restrictions less onerous than many, and in most cases they give you an option to "rent" textbooks for the duration of a class which might be as economic as buying a physical copy and then reselling it when you're done with it. But if you want complete freedom to resell what you buy, or maybe you just like the feeling of holding a real book in your hands, then the printed copy would probably be what you want. Note that I believe the physical version comes with a disc containing the movies and supplemental materials for the book (turns out it doesn't, see update below), but you can also find all of this free on the Garland Science web site if you buy an e-book version.So with that out of the way let's talk about the book! There are basically two groups of people who are likely reading this. Either you've had this book assigned as the textbook for a class or you haven't. If this has been assigned as a textbook, first make sure you're looking at the correct edition. This sixth edition is very different from the fifth (the authors point out that five million scientific papers were written since the previous edition) and you might *not* get away with buying a cheaper used previous edition. If your class is going into enough depth that it needs this book over something like Essential Cell Biology, 4th Edition then chances are you really do need the correct edition. Also the sixth edition is brand new as of this writing, so make sure you're not being asked to get the previous (fifth) edition!This is one of my favorite textbooks of all time. A really good textbook is designed to prepare students to be practitioners in a field, not just to try to keep bored students awake and hold their hands through a class they really wish they didn't have to take. This is a great textbook and it's THE book to get if you want to learn as much about cell biology as is possible from one volume. It's also now entirely fresh and up to date (as of 2014), something absolutely critical in a field like Biology which advances daily. Everything in here is fascinating. If you think this stuff is boring then I feel sorry for you :) Life is cells, and this is "everything we know about how cells work" so it's directly applicable to an understanding of every (known) form of life, from bacteria to you and me. Even if your class doesn't go down into the depths and fine details, this is a great book to have for later self-study if this stuff interests you. This can be a textbook you keep for years and refer to frequently.This is also a surprisingly accessible work for those interested in learning about modern Biology on their own. If you're someone who is scientifically minded and wants to understand how life works, then most of what's in here is easily comprehensible and highly enjoyable. Unlike many fields, there aren't years of prerequisites needed to start the study of cutting-edge Biology. If this were Physics, you would need to have had ten years of math and boring low-level physics before you could ever hope to begin to understand things like quantum mechanics or the general theory of relativity. But there's no math requirement for understanding Biology (though it's starting to become more quantitative and newer fields like Physical Biology are growing rapidly). A little knowledge of concepts from Chemistry is helpful, but again very little of the discussion in this book is quantitative so there's generally nothing to calculate, no equations to solve, etc. Cell Biology is much closer to something like computer programming in terms of the mental aptitude needed to understand it. To get started I recommend reading chapter 1 thoroughly, then read chapter 2 but if your eyes start to glaze over then just skip the rest of chapter 2 for now (the chemistry, while obviously fundamental and critically important is not necessary to understand deeply in order to understand the rest of the book, just as you don't really need to understand voltages and transistors in order to learn to program a computer), and then read Chapter 3 thoroughly which is all about how proteins perform most of the work in the cell including acting as microprocessors, motors, pumps, etc. By that point you'll likely be hooked and you can go back and appreciate the rest of chapter 2 when you're ready for it.So how does this Sixth edition compare too the Fifth? Well, first of all it has been seven years since the previous edition, which is nearly forever in the world of Biology, so just on that basis alone the new edition is going to be a big advance. In general the fundamentals are the same, but the fine details of understanding have advanced a great deal.An ongoing problem for the authors is the incredible volume of knowledge that exists and the near infinite and subtle complexity of even the simplest cells. This means the book could easily be three times its current size, a pressure which the authors must find a way to resist if the book is to remain portable and affordable. In the fifth edition, the book exploded past its covers and the standard edition was forced to relegate the last five chapters to PDF supplements (a huge Reference Edition with over 1600 pages was available with all chapters printed, and the e-book versions include all chapters). This was not a popular decision as it meant that even after buying and lugging around a big expensive tome, you still didn't even have all the content printed.The sixth edition now includes the entire content of the book, and there's no need for a "Reference" edition. This means however that even though the printed book has gotten slightly longer, they have had to shorten the effective size by about 250 pages! This has resulted in a lot of editing and a reduction in the number of figures. In some cases this means more effective and concise content, but in other places interesting material and in-depth discussion has been eliminated. Taking as an example chapter 4, Control of Gene Expression, the current edition has 79 figures where the previous edition had 115. Also the chapter on Sexual Reproduction has been eliminated entirely (you can download the fifth edition version of this chapter as a PDF, see the update below) though some of its material has been integrated into other parts of the book.I cannot help but wonder if the authors have really made the right decision here. Choosing to reduce the (effective) size of the book by around 15% at a time when knowledge in the field is growing so rapidly seems rather limiting. I would personally have rather seen them embrace the idea that many of their readers will be using e-books where the length has no physical effect, or even consider breaking the book into two volumes as is often done in fields like the study of medicine. But in the end this is still intended to be a textbook, and many students will likely appreciate anything that reduces the number of pages they have to read :)A lot of work has been done to clean up the design, and they have re-created many illustrations in a more consistent style. This edition uses a pleasant blue theme in comparison to the reddish-pink of the fifth edition. It has a cleaner look overall, and I think the changes in title/heading color are a definite improvement for on-screen reading. There are a few places where figures include small areas of white-on-lime-green text that I have to zoom in on to read, but generally the changes are improvements.The content in general has been brought up to date with many sections extensively updated or re-written. Interestingly, as a sign that classic quantitative methods from Physics are starting to creep further into Biology, there's an extended section in chapter 8, Mathematical Analysis of Cell Functions, which gives some mathematical (ZOMG! some math in a Biology book!) treatment to things like gene product equilibrium and gene regulation and serves as a good introduction to the field of Physical Biology, which is another interesting way of approaching the study of life (if you find this interesting then I can also recommend Physical Biology of the Cell which I bought and have been enjoying).Anyhow, MBoC gets all the stars as being one of those magical books that takes you deep into a whole new and fascinating world, one where you'll learn how each individual cell in your body has much more in common with a modern supercomputer than it does with that soggy old frog you dissected in high-school. The practice of modern cell biology is nothing less than hacking into alien computer systems (not designed by the mind of man) looking for technology we can appropriate or adapt to cure disease, reduce world hunger, produce clean cheap energy, and otherwise improve our lives.An exciting book for exciting times.G.Update: I've now purchased a copy of the physical book as well, just because I like it so much. It's a six pound, 13 ounce tome that's two inches thick. It's hardbound, and has the same feel and quality as the Reference edition version of the fifth edition. Paper quality (thickness, brightness) are again similar to the fifth edition. It's definitely not as lap-crushing as the old Reference edition (that extra pound or so makes a big difference).The physical book does NOT come with CD media for the supplemental movies and stuff, so you need to go to the Garland Science site to find them (under the Student tab you can search for the movie numbers from the book without needing to create an account, or you can create an account and add the book to it to make accessing things a little easier). The GS site still seems to be rolling out information on the new edition so at some point they may have a page/site dedicated to the book as they have for some other recent textbooks. They have also now added a downloadable PDF of "MBOC, Fifth Edition - Chapter 21: Sexual Reproduction: Meiosis, Germ Cells, and Fertilization" in the sixth edition downloads area. This chapter got eliminated from the sixth edition (the meiosis section in the Cell Cycle chapter was extended a bit to compensate) so this is a useful reference to have.Update 2: I just picked up the new version of Molecular Biology of the Cell 6E - The Problems Book and it's got many VERY nice improvements over its previous version. It should really be considered "part two" of the textbook. There's a huge amount of additional knowledge in here and it's great to just read, not just as a workbook. Go check it out.

I just purchased the loose leaf version of this text (in order to save about $50) with some trepidation. This version has the whole text and is 3-hole punched onto 8.5x11 paper. I'm delighted to discover that I am able to put it in standard 3-ring binders. Most importantly, I am now able to take a couple of chapters out and put them in a separate binder temporarily. This makes the huge lump that is a 1400+ page tome much easier to read because I don't have to have the entire weight of the book in my lap.

This is not merely the best cell/molecular biology textbook, it is likely the best textbook ever produced. The style makes the subject easy to understand while still being informative; it almost reads like a novel. Each small section makes and then illustrates a specific point. This is reiterated by clear and helpful figures. It is not a book of just facts. The reader comes to understand what experiments and what evidence supports the current models. This helps students and professionals alike improve their own thinking. The book is ideal for both undergrad and grad/medical students but still very useful for professionals already established in the field. Each new edition provides appropriately updated information without 'throwing the baby out with the bathwater'.

This is going to be a review of the Kindle version, and specifically the Kindle version on an (original) iPad.As to the book itself, this is the best textbook I've ever seen and is just a must-possess item for anyone with the slightest interest in biology.And, wonder of wonders, the Kindle version turns out to be a MUST HAVE even at the price.The print version of MBotC comes in two editions, the regular version and the Reference Edition which includes an extra five printed chapters (they're available as free PDF downloads if you only have the regular edition). The description of the Kindle version suggests that it only contains the 1392 pages of the regular edition, which would be incredibly annoying because why should you have to separately download five PDFs as a supplement to an already electronic book?But it turns out that the Kindle version DOES include the full 1600 pages of the Reference Edition with all 25 chapters! The cover graphic lacks the "Reference Edition" text, but all the pages are there, and the page numbers match up exactly with the printed Reference Edition. So immediately the price starts to look a lot better when you compare it to the Reference Edition.But it gets better.The book looks gorgeous! It looks *exactly* like the printed book, and a full screen page on an iPad is very readable even though it's a couple inches (diagonally) smaller than the actual book. One of my worries was whether it could look anything like as sharp and readable as the real book. Well, it looks *perfect*! In fact, most of the illustrations are actually vector-based, and remain perfectly sharp as you zoom in. This also means that the book will probably look INCREDIBLE on a retina-display iPad as the text and most graphics will be able to render at the higher resolution I would expect. Even the raster-based illustrations are included at a very high DPI such that they too look as sharp as in the printed edition.What more could you want? Well, the book is fully searchable which adds tremendous value over the dead-tree version. Also of course it weighs nothing compared to something like nine pounds for the printed Reference Edition.This is a book that justifies buying an iPad or Kindle Fire just on its own.One of the best (not to mention heaviest) books ever becomes the best Kindle book ever.NOTE! that you MUST have an iPad, Kindle Fire, or PC/Mac to view this book, you cannot even install it on a regular (eInk) Kindle because you need a big color screen to view it on.G.

I had wanted a book to really explain Q, but one that was written by an academic who thoroughly knew it. Kloppenborg is a Professor of Religion at the University of Toronto who has written extensively on the Gospel of Q, and in this book brings us up to date on what is currently known, as well as what is still unknown on the Gospel of Q. And in this book he does a masterful job of slowly breaking down what is known and what is theory when it comes to this key gospel, which is possibly the earliest document of Christianity and which was directly referenced by the writers of the Gospels of Matthew, Luke, Thomas, and the letters of James.This book is concise enough to keep moving along, but detailed enough to make you have to reread some lines to make sure you are fully comprehending what he is telling you. Kloppenborg gets into discussions about whether Q was in fact oral tradition that was handed down or was it a written document? He shows different sides of the arguments regarding the influences of Q on the Gospels, and why some of them were written differently even though they came from the same source document. He explains how Q talks about Jesus differently from the Gospel of Mark, and therefore sheds light on Jesus in important ways. Kloppenborg explains how early writers of the Gospels wrote their versions of the Gospel of Q slightly differently, creating interpretations based on their audiences, which was something used by scribes and translators at the that time to try to make their version more accessible to the audience it was being written for. This book is a great book for beginning to grasp what is known, and what is still unknown, as it relates to the Q Gospel. He also explains why it is referred to as a Gospel.

Well written description of this earliest Christian record...still looking into aspects I question but will get you taking a different look at the Synoptic Gospels. Very interesting, you will enjoy.

An excellent treatise on the Book of Q. Not only does this text cover the academic depth justifying Q's existence, but the first half of the text is accessible by the layperson. Unfortunately, as the text progresses, the second half of the work gets "heavy" and is sometimes a bit challenging without extensive knowledge in Greek and New Testament textual criticism. However, this is a great resource for those that wish to have a better understanding of the Synoptic Gospels and the justification for Q.

I approached this book with caution as I suspected it may be too dry and academic. On the contrary, it is well written, readable, and engaging. Admittedly one must be truly wanting to immerse oneself in the reasons for Q being derived. For me at the beginning I knew that this book contained a good version of derived Q from a respected author and that was key. The approach to derivation and relationship to other Gospels, Didache, James gave me significant fresh insights into the true Jesus I seek. I definately recommend this book.

Got the eBook to learn a bit more about the area where I live, but have to say I was very disappointed. I really was expecting it would allow me to get into the details of what is in and around Raleigh. That wasn't the case. Very limited detail provided about very high level touring. Honestly, I felt it was not $9.99 worth of material. I ended up doing my own research, creating my own tour, and seeing all that needed to be seen. To give it some credit and barely two stars, there are some nice pictures and if you want to do a quick fly-by driving tour, maybe, just maybe, it would suffice. My advice, save your money.

Mr. Nosey is horrifying! I instantly returned this book once I was able to read the entire thing. I cannot believe people think this story is okay. I’m pro original Hans Christian Anderson tales, gore and all, but this story is terrible. Cutting off someone’s nose because you think they’re annoying? What lesson is this supposed to teach? That it’s okay to be violent towards people that annoy you?

The Little Miss: Pocket Library was a bit disappointing. Each book is about 5 pages. They are not stories; more like bios of each character. Not what I was looking for.To be fair, the books are good quality (very small board books). I just wished there was more to them.

This book (Mr Dizzy) is missing pages (deliberately). The writing has been merged and pictures removed. It seems this kind of thing is also concealed by the fact that reviews are not of individual products. Note, this is not a review of the story, but I don't think that matters as the reviews are all merged anyway.

My Son just loves this book! He lost his first one, so this was a replacement. The whole book collection is worth while, I consider the humor just a little more to an adult level, not in a R rated version. Parent's will get a kick out of this book also.

I should have read the details better. These are tiny board books with very little writing. Was trying to get a Miss set to go with my daughters Men. She is 6 and like them, but it's not much ready for her. These are baby books.

Mr. Greedy LOVES food! What he eats for breakfast would feed our whole family and more. No sooner has he finished breakfast then he starts thinking about lunch! Out on a walk, he comes across the giant's house and the delicious meal waiting on the table - sausages the size of pillows, peas the size of cabbages etc! The giant has him sussed and decides to teach him a lesson. (Reminds me of Bruce Bogtrotter with the chocolate cake in Matilda.) Is there maybe a better way to teach your child not to eat as much? Yes! BUT the lesson here is that Mr. Greedy did indeed learn his lesson, kept his promise not to be greedy ever again thereby gaining control over his original lack of self-control and ended up looking much better for it.A great book for all ages!

Mr. Grumble is as you can guess by his name, GRUMPY! When his alarm clock goes off in the morning he says, "Bah! It's the start of yet another horrible day!"Hmm... how to cure him? Well, a wizard comes along who doesn't "like people who are constantly grumbling and moaning." What does he do? He turns Mr. Grumble into a little pig! As you read on through the story, you will read how each time Mr. Grumble grumbles he becomes a larger and larger pig? Does this cure him? You'll have to read to find out!

I loved these books when I was three and now my three year old loves them too. I'm so glad they are still in print and easy to find. Something about these simple colorful illustrations and fantastical stories really captures the attention of children ages 3-5. Added the little miss collection to my daughters Christmas list :)

Once again, Francine Rivers shows incredible insight in her writing. Abortion is such a volatile subject yet Rivers portrays both sides of the issue with great perception and gentle understanding. Having had an abortion at age 19 myself, I remember being faced with many of the arguments Dynah Carey faced in this book. Like Dynah's mother, I thought I took the easy route out by having an abortion, but found out afterward about the same terrible post-abortion grief and shame that impacted Dynah's mother so profoundly. Thankfully (after 30 years of struggle), I found forgiveness in Jesus Christ, and now I host post-abortion Bible studies through my church and in my home to help other women heal. It was beautiful to read about Dynah's faith and her struggle with what the world thinks versus what her heart for God thinks. If you want insight into both sides of the issue and the aftermath of choosing either side, read this book. In addition, Rivers' study section at the end, points out where to go for help whether you are dealing with a crisis pregnancy or post-abortion grief and shame. Thank you Francine Rivers for writing this beautiful book! I can validate first hand that the struggle she reveals in this book is spot on.

I love how Francine writes. Abortion is always a tricky subject then add Christianity into the mix......wowsers. A young Christian girl with everything going for her gets raped one night......Her supposedly CHRISTIAN fiancé pressures her into getting an abortion......in fact everyone pushes for that (except for one man). She feels in her heart that it isn't right...so she has to stand up for herself and her beliefs. Through the story you find out how many women are effected by their choice of abortion...the scars both mental and physical that follow them through life. in the end a beautiful child is born and the mother loves her. something good and wonderful came out of a violent act. a very moving story and I think anyone would find it a good read.

The story gripped my attention; it was hard to put the book down.This is a powerful book that raises hard, real questions. It forces the reader to enter into the story and live Dyna's life with her. Interspersed with the reassuring voice (word) of God, it elicits a desire to pray hard as the reader feels the pain and struggles with the main character.In the end, God's strong voice and His perfect ways win the day!This book addresses a tough subject, but ends victoriously only because the main character is willing to trust God in and through the pain. God makes a way!

I gave this the highest rating because I couldn't put it down. I was looking for another book that I was reading & this one just appeared. I loved the characters and and was warned by the hypocrites. I am a pro-lifer since first hearing the word abortion. I give God the glory for keeping me close to him through the people I met at the clinics. My favorite thing about the book is the personal way God speaks to each person. He is that close to each of us if we just listen. I can't wait to read her other books.

The book allows one to examine their true feelings about abortion. It shows the effects abortion has had on 3 generations of women. The wounds that the loss of a pre-born baby had or may have on each woman is fully examined. Also the roles an abortion facility director and an abortionist are touched upon. Does the director really care about the needs of a woman with a crisis pregnancy or is she more concerned for her bottom line? What would make a doctor resort to taking lives rather than saving them? Finally will Dynah, whose child was conceived in rape, find someone to give her the support she needs. Will it be her prolife fiancé, her mother still grieving for the loss of her first baby to an abortion, her father hurting from his wife's abortion and unwilling to raise a rapist's child, her pastor, her grandmother who also has lost a child to abortion, or the college friend who's loved Dynah from afar? Will Dynah find a way to love her baby and herself?

I just wish it would have moved along quicker! I do sidewalk counseling at an Louisiana Abortion Clinic and we hear so many different circumstances from the women, their families and friends. We are there for these women, No Matter what the outcome of their appointment resulted in!!! We have story after story of women who stop by the clinic to show us their little precious bundle of joy as well as those who stop as they are driving by and say, don't stop what y'all are doing...y'all saved a my baby's life and he's 4 Yrs Old!!! I could go on and on. One of the main reasons I choose to be a sidewalk counselor is because, babies are dying inside, so I stand at the foot of the cross with them so that THEY DO NOT HAVE TO DIE ALONE!

Wonderful Book that deals with the abortion issue. We go on a journey with Dynah as she deals with a pregnancy from being raped and all the decisions that follow her live that has been forever changed. We also see how the Christian side unfolds and realize that all intentions are not for her good and the only voice one needs to take to heart comes from our relationship with our Lord whose intentions are always for our good and his Love is unconditional no matter what the circumstances.After reading Redeeming Love,I couldn't wait to wrap myself up in another book by Francine Rivers.

Although I love Author Francine Rivers, and I am very much a Christian who believes that abortion is wrong under any circumstance, this book was a bit of a disappointment. It was a bit predictable, and it was pretty easy to see where the plot was going. Also, there were undercurrents of previous books that made me think I had read The Atonement Child previously. As in the trilogy series Her Mother's Hope, the was the theme of one character having suffered with tuberculosis and having to neglect her child for health reasons. Overall, however, I did enjoy reading the book and will definitely read anything written by Francine Rivers in the future.
