Dahlias are on my list to grow this year and this book fills every question out there from a family farm that knows what they are doing. This farm is on Martha Stewarts list, should be on everyones. the photos are to die for and the information is full! It is a great book!

I ordered this for my mom for x-mas. It has some amazing photography and good information. I'd love to give it 5 stars but the first time I opened it to look through it the seam next to the binding ripped open. Didn't have enough time to replace it before our gathering. She loved it but couldn't help but notice the crack/tear beside the binding.

I’ll have to figure out how to translate them so I can understand what to do. I think you’d better know what you’re doing and be a pretty proficient baker before you try these recipes. I don’t really think they are for beginners.

Things I find frustrating are:Several recipes lacked a serving size or any nutritional analysis.A few called for uncommon ingredients, such as, peanut flour or a spice mixture I don't usually have. I would appreciate inclusion of valid substitutions for such items.Also, a helpful inclusion would be information for substitutions among various sweetener options, particularly for those new to baking with such sweeteners. For instance, if I have swerve or stevia, but a recipe calls for erythritol, is there any harm in subbing one for another, and if a substitution can be made, what would be an equivalent amount to use in place of the one used in the recipe? These seem like editing problems that would be fairly easy to fix; however, they impact my satisfaction with this book.

The 'cowboy Bebeop Anime Guide 1' -the first out of six volumes- starts off with a few character bios, then gives summaries and information on the first six episodes of the series. The last few chapters deal with the setting of Cowboy Bebop universe, with a chapter explaining about bounty hunters along with files on the items used by the characters and lots of sketches on everything from the types of spacesuits used to the character of Vicious.The information is interesting, but most of it can be found if you have the DVDs. This book would make a good gift for Cowboy Bebop fans who have everything else or for people who need the information at their fingertips, like fan fiction writers. Lots of color pictures right from the anime help fill out the work but it still feels kind of weak.

I ordered this book new and I consider myself a pretty big fan of Cowboy Bebop. I love the art and text in this book, however, the book had slight damage. A couple bends and tears.

Having wanted the Japanese version of Newtype's 100% Cowboy Bebop for some time now, I was pleasantly surprised to see a smaller guide in English at my local bookstore. It didn't jump out at me, that's for sure. Measuring in at about a slim 7 x 5.5 inches, the book fits basically anywhere you want it to, including coffee tables or small bookshelves and the likes. But don't let the size fool you, it's packed with basically anything anyone would want to know about the first five episodes of the series, from basic information about the characters to tidbits about seemingly minor incidents and the lyrics of the songs in English and Romanji (phonetic Japanese). There's a small section after the overview of the episodes that goes over the lives of Spike, Jet, and the rest of the gang. Ein and Spike are personally my favorite characters in the whole series, and even Ein gets his own character bio. The print quality is average to above average and the guide is littered with pictures and captions for Sessions 1-5 of the anime. The 14 pages of character designs in black and white in the back of the book are a nice complement to the colorful layouts on the rest of the pages. They seriously show nearly every, if not every, character shown in Cowboy Bebop episodes 1-5. I have a few Gundam data books in Japanese, so it's nice to finally have an anime guide in English that I can read as well as look at the pictures. While the quality might not hold up to other Newtype publications such as the big honkin' Newtype 100% Neon Genesis Evagelion guide (in Japanese), I found the Cowboy Bebop Anime Guide 1 to be something no serious fan should be without. This should definately pique the interest of anyone who still hasn't seen the series as well as fit nicely into any fan's anime or manga library.

I'm a huge Cowboy Bebop fan, I own the series on DVD and preordered the movie a long time ago. I bought this book thinking that it would be full of cool facts and info that you wouldn't pick up from the actual DVD, but it's really just a synopsis of each episodes with a bunch of pictures from each episode. There are a few pages of extras, but they are mostly some rough sketches and short bios, nothing really worth the price of this book.If this was half the price, it might be worth it, but even then I would only suggest this for the absolute collector that must have every Cowboy Bebop related piece of merchandise out there, regardless of quality. For the casual fan, or even the more fanatic, it's simply not worth the money.

When I saw this book at the local [store], I was really excited because I love this show and already own all the dvd's. After shelling out [money] for it, however, I realized that it really wasn't worth it. The bulk of the book is made up of summaries and screenshots from the first 5 episodes. This might have been cool, but it was better actually watching the episodes, which I had already done atleast five times. So even though the pictures are cool and there is some information on the characters I didn't know, this book is for hardcore fans/geeks only... those who need to know all the personal information about each and every minor character. Final verdict: Only buy this if you are completely obsessed with the series and have already purchased all the dvd's. Maybe if you find the book used on amazon ... it would be a good deal, but otherwise you're just going to be disappointed.

The Girls Next Door was a secret guilty pleasure of mine. It was on during a weird time in my life. I was the new mom to a toddler and a baby. My baby boy slept very little and I found myself being up with him at all hours. During those hours I would often tune into E! And watch hours of mind numbing TV while I cried and desperately tried to rock my baby to sleep (I had baby blues depression and he had colic.) My favorite show was GND , their lives were seemed so fun and carefree (so unlike my chaotic one) Then I watched an episode were the girls were throwing another playmate a baby shower. Holly seemed so depressed, like she would trade everything she had to be the one having the baby instead. In that instant rocking my baby I felt very lucky and started feeling better. Holly became my favorite on the show (the classy shy one)and I still followed her life after the show So I was interested to read her book.The book while very dishy. Also seems a bit short sighted. A lot of the insults and complaints she lodges. Could easily apply to herself. She lambasts cookie cutter gold digging blondes. While admitting she modeled herself after Hugh Hefners ideal image of a woman, and moved into the mansion because she had nowhere else to go. She constantly refers to "mean girls" while saying mean nasty stuff about other women.I did find her chronicling of her early years in the mansion interesting. The early 2000's were a very different time. I hardly think in todays "woke" climate. That a series about three blondes and the old man who sexually and emotionally abuses them would be so successful.In the end I'm happy she found some happiness in her life and hope this book gave her closure.

The book was definitely a page turner. In some ways, it saddened me to hear that the plush, naked-yet-wholesome, wacky world that was painted for us on Girls Next Door was nothing more than another conjured reality show--expertly edited together to portray what they wanted the viewers to see. It was much nicer to think of Hugh Hefner as a kind old man who simply kept pampered women at his side for company. Not an overbearing, control freak, no sex, no creepiness, no bizarre weekly rituals.... just a nice, old, lonely man with specific taste in women, an image to live up to, and a hefty bank account to allow him such indulgences..... This book, however, tells us otherwise.My only issue with the book how Madison always portrays herself to be this sweet, well-meaning, non-gold-digging girl who got caught up in this world by sheer inertia. But in the telling of her story (how she arrived at the Mansion, how she ended up staying and becoming a girlfriend), she always made it seem like the fame and notoriety were the absolute furthest thing from her mind, and were nothing more than an unfortunate side-effect of being a girlfriend. She made it seem like she was simply looking for a place to stay, a couch to crash on. I often wanted to talk back to the book and say, "Come on, Holly! Who do you think your fooling?" We're all human. We all dream of fame and fortune. There HAD to be some part of her selfish brain that was screaming at her, "DO IT FOR THE MONEY! DO IT FOR THE FAME! ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS BANG AN OLD GUY AND YOU'RE SET!", but she would have us believe otherwise. By painting herself out to have nothing but the noblest of intentions, she lost a bit of credibility with me. I mean, c'mon. It's Playboy!

I had watched some episodes of The Girls Next Door (TGND) and thought it was pretty good, though not in any means "reality". I liked the personalities of the three ladies, though Kendra's personality could be a bit iffy. This is a tell-all from Holly's perspective. She is most harsh on Kendra and Hugh, while she seemed to like Bridget a lot.What is interesting in this behind-the-scenes is that she starts from way before the cameras started rolling to when she arrived at the Playboy Mansion, and what she did in order to stay. She talks about the hierarchy amongst the 'girlfriends', what it took to become a Playmate, who was cheating on Hugh, and how TGND actually got started.I found myself fascinated, annoyed, disgusted, and amused by the antics of all of the people involved, including Holly. Life at the mansion was not what it looked like while the cameras rolled and the editing was done. He rented his rooms; he did not own the mansion. The girlfriends, not surprisingly, were more for show than anything else, and they often were at odds with each other.There were times where things that Holly did seemed specious as well. I do appreciate that she included what happened after the three left the show as I had wondered what transpired to have them all leave at the same time. Then there was Kendra's show and Holly's show.Did everything happen as Holly wrote about it? Of course not. It is just her POV and her story; however, it is revealing, entertaining, and educating. I found it to be a solid read without being unbearable. You don't need to have watched TGND to enjoy this.

"Teach Yourself Visually" sounds appealing, right? Just look at some pictures, learn the basics of the phone first, and then gradually go on to later chapters which explain additional features that you may (or may not) wish to use; nice concept...which this author totally IGNORES! Example: you just bought a phone---first thing, you want to want to know how to make and answer phone calls. This "author" doesn't even get to that until PAGE 148! First, there is page after page of extraneous crap that only a nerd would care about. There are "hang-ups"---of various kinds, although the differences among them aren't spelled out very clearly, Google Chrome, Google+, Facebook, twits, several different types of e-mail accounts, etc. Many of theses services MAY be useful at some point, but the order(?) in which things are presented in this book is patently ridiculous. The explanations are largely inadequate. As you might have guessed, I SENT THIS BOOK BACKSamsung's Korenglish customer manual is actually more understandable than this piece of tripe!

Service was good... having both together is confusing when you are new to Androids, thought they'd be in separate sections,I have trouble relating to which the comments are for. Writers assume too much.

It is OK if it were for the correct version of Android, not Marshmallow. I have Samsung 7 with Nougat. When purchased, I did not see anywhere that it was for an older version of Android. It is obsolete, albeit some functionality is relevant.

This book has really helped me out with my new phone. I am still looking up things that I can not figure out on my phone. I have a lot of the Teach Yourself Visually books and LOVE THEM ALL. THANKS FOR A GREAT BOOK.
