Nice summary of GI values that are scientifically tested. However, many products listed are not available at my local grocery store. I think this has many products sold in Australia since the testing is done in there. For staples and many international products this has information I need to keep my blood sugar on an even keel. I have found this book to be absolutely essential. Eating only slow and medium-fast absorbed carbs has made me feel better and kept my blood sugar at reasonable amounts. In spite of being diagnosed with prediabetes (or metabolic syndrome) many years ago, paying attention to the GI of foods has kept me from going into diabetes like my father and younger brother. I also don't get the low blood sugar that makes me irritable and tired like I used to because I know what to eat to keep my blood sugar at a low but steady rate. Vitally important information!

BOUGHT THIS ON KINDAL SPECIFICALLY FOR THE GI LIST. THIS LIST WAS TOO SMALL TO BE READ ON COMPUTER.NORMALLY I LOVE AMAZON. BUT I LOST $6 ON THIS ORDER

I don't understand how this book is legit. It seems to be full of misinformation, declaring things like frosted flakes and converted rice to be low GI (checked with my endocrinologist, they are wrong). Made for the Canadian market, dated info, many brands are irrelevant.

I never write reviews but had to for this product. Dr demanded that hubby eat low carb AND low glycemic index. All of this, at once, was hard to understand. Needed one guide that contained all necessary info and could be carried in my purse. This is perfect. In a very easy format it gives GI: whether it’s low, med, or high: Carbs: and Fiber. Some others have given it a low rating for not containing more brand-name weight-management products. That doesn’t bother me a bit since we’re supposed to concentrate on unprocessed healthier foods.

The only thing I would change about this book is for them to have an index of foods at the back so you can know where to find them. Sometimes I don't know exactly which category a certain food is found in. And so I have to search for it. Like tofu, for instance. Never did find it. Haha. But the book is fantastic to take with you to the grocery store. So many items, with specific brand names. And lists of "good" foods and foods to avoid. I haven't had a chance to read it entirely yet, but it is quite helpful in meal planning and grocery shopping.

I read the first review on here about not being able to read the print but thought I would take my chances. Luckily Amazon refunded my credit card. Next time I will pay closer attention. The previous review is correct you can enlarge the print but it is a complete blur. I have ordered the paperback instead

Although this book was marketed in the US and Canada, it was written in and features brand name foods found in Australia and New Zealand. Apples, potatoes and zucchini have the same GI's in any country but I wanted to know about packaged foods. The brand-name foods listed in this book are not found in the US and therefore the book wasn't useful for me.

I got this specifically for my Kindle and while the general text is fine and my problem is that the charts listing the glycemic load are way too small to read on a Kindle. I tried enlarging the type, changing margins, etc. The regular type changed but nothing in the charts changed size. I would need a magnifying glass to read the charts on my Kindle and that's just unrealistic.
